 Record Name Black Grouse
 Record Description A total of eight black grouse (or grey hens) were counted during a recent walk in Arkengarthdale by SWAAG Members. Initially five were perched on a drystone wall. Soon to be joined by three more in flight, see tele photos.

 Additional Notes A total of 500 Male Black Grouse have been recorded across England during 2011 which was an exceptionally good breeding year, with five males on the Catterick and Feldom Training Area, inf Game and Wildlife Conservation Trust. There are small isolated populations of Black Grouse on some more remote, quiet moors in the NE Pennines.
